Making movies.

One of my longest running works in progress so far is the Locksmith Project. It all started with a book I decided to write based on some ideas my husband had had for a movie. Then it turned into a possible webseries and before we knew it we were tearing apart my sister's room to use for the set of a book trailer. (She has been in Taiwan and we promised to redo her room before she gets back.)

Well, we took apart the room in September and then, life happened, and the whole project got put on hold, much to my mother's annoyance because it was her house that got displaced. Now, we are finally getting things wrapped up, which is good because my sister is home in a week. The trailer is looking good though.

I got the floor drawn and I'm pleased with how it turned out...

My husband did the shooting...

And the end product is exactly what we were looking for...

Now to get the editing finished!

Getting there...

A few months ago, my mother convinced me to try out a yoga class with her. I was skeptical because I thought it was going to be slow and boring. Then it turned out to be a whole lot of fun and I've been going ever since.

I've actually been holding my own in the class. My balance and coordination are getting honed and my flexibility is getting better. The one thing that I have not been able to do though is a position called the Plow.

For the life of me I cannot lay on my back and get my feet up over my head. I've been determined to get it though and for the last week or so I keep trying with no success. So, tonight I ran through a yoga video on Netflix, after my daughter went to bed, just to relax and I figured why not, I'll try again. I was smart this time though and used the couch to get my feet up over my head.

The position is actually really comfortable once I can flip around and get into it. As you can see I still have a long way to go, but that's why this blog is called a work in progress, right? Sometimes, you have to celebrate the journey, as well as when you reach your goal!

Things to do

I realized last week that I just have a lot of projects on my plate right now. On one hand, it's keeping me busy and they are all projects that I like. On the other hand, I have a lot of projects and I'm starting to wonder if I'm ever going to be able to finish them. So, I've decided to make a page where at least I can chronicle the ones that I do get accomplished.

One of the things on my list is to try one new (and fancy) recipe every week. Mostly because mom has gotten some great new cookbooks and I want to try them out. She got "Mastering the Art of French Cooking," which is so cool and inspiring especially after watching "Julie and Julia." And then, there the "Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook," in which a woman took all the food that is mentioned in Harry Potter and found a recipe for it. (Yes, this includes pumpkin pasties, but I did not see one for butter beer.)

So today, I made my first recipe: Cock-a-leekie Soup. It may sound like an odd choice out of everything that could be found in a Harry Potter cookbook, but I've been dying to try it since I saw an episode of Jeeves and Wooster about it.

Check out a clip from the episode here.

Jeeves and Wooster is definitely my favorite way to see Hugh Laurie.

The soup I made was absolutely fantastic. I actually like leeks quite a bit thanks to growing up on Leek and Potato soup from one of mom's hippie cookbooks. This soup is full of them and I just threw in some rice left over from Chinese take-out. The soup only has about 6 ingredients and it was easy to throw together and just let it cook while I worked on some of my other projects. Hooray for multi-tasking!

Here's a picture of my soup.

It's probably not the best picture, but the soup is fabulous!
